America’s Trojan War combines gut wrenching realism and fast paced action to make this feel like it was ripped from the morning’s headlines.
Lisa Billingham and Sargent Bushings rushed into the building firing into the faces of the enemy. Hundreds and soon thousands of police, firemen, and civilians poured into the buildings of St Elizabeth Hospital. They shot anything that moved. By force of numbers they pushed the defenders back from the windows and doors. Room by room sometimes desk by desk the fire fights raged leaving dead, wounded and dying scattered in every conceivable pose, piled on the floor, slumped over desks and chairs, and half in and half out of doors and windows. It was no exaggeration to say the building was littered with bodies. Still the Americans in their righteous anger assaulted the enemy with a ferocity they had never imagined.

A very ambitious concept that could have been executed so much more competently. Grammar and editing errors abound. Some characters were very well-developed in just a couple paragraphs only to be killed abruptly on the next page, while recurring characters that survive to the end were one-dimensional at best. The jihadist plan was impressive, but the logistics were never properly explained, and the scale of it strained credibility from the first chapter. The author's knowledge of military matters is superficial. You cannot spin up an entire National Guard heavy brigade combat team from depot in the space of a single night. Don't care how much manpower you have at your disposal, it can't be done.
This is basically Tom Clancy if he'd had a lobotomy before sitting down to pen Red Storm Rising. This could have been a genuinely great novel, if it had gone through two major rewrites and had a competent editor.

America Trojan War edition by Robert Owens Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
It is hard to categorize America’s Trojan War into a type. Is it a political thriller? A war story? Some combination of the two? Perhaps. I know it is not intended as science fiction since it is set in 2016, in Washington, D.C., its surrounding areas, and the whole country. Robert Owens takes the fear and hatred of current headlines and political commentary and produces an action-packed plot, complete with good guys to cheer and bad guys to hate.
The action is what propels the plot forward. The novel starts at a leisurely pace, introducing a veteran finally retiring from civilian work to enjoy the golden years with his family. All readers can easily identify with that character and the feeling of good times to come—65 just does not seem that old anymore!—or at least they know someone nearing retirement. The readers tag along on his last night at work as a guard at the local armory. Then terrorists take over the armory, and the action gains momentum, running full force through graphic attacks and eventual retaliation strikes. The action and brutality take over the plot, as battles are fought on many fronts. The violence is overwhelming as brutality grows on both sides. The violence is a bit too much for me, but it is not gratuitous and fits the storyline.
The best passages are the small breaks in action when Owens introduces the many patriots who are the heroes of the novel. He shares glimpses of their personal lives and relationships, their fears and motivations—those things that allow the reader to connect with the heroism of these characters. These characters are the ones who step up to fight against the terrorists in an effort to take back the American capital. Not surprisingly, many who step forward are those who currently serve in the military and National Guard, but they are also veterans and first responders from all departments. They are also civilians—young, old, male, female, trained or not—who are willing to sacrifice for America, the country and the ideal. Of course, military and political leaders are eventually able to step forward and offer the command structure needed to make the individual assaults against terrorism a more coordinated attack. The action moves so quickly—as it needs to for this story—but I wish Owens had been able to develop the everyday heroes a bit more fully.
By the end of the novel, the attacks are over, and many are dead and injured on both sides. There is a resolution of sorts, but—just like reality—not everyone will agree on who is the real victor and that the hostilities are finally over. Maybe America’s Trojan War is a cautionary tale, suggesting that America needs to do better now to avoid a horrible tomorrow. Read this novel yourself and see what lessons you think are being taught.
This book is amazing!!! It would make a great movie. Very easy to read with the larger font. It is full of action packed incidents that keep you on the edge of your seat. Once you start reading this you can't put it down. It would be great to have a sequel to see what happens next. It is also a wake up call about what could happen in our country if measures aren't take to make sure ISIS infiltrator's aren't so easily allowed entrance. Good job Dr. Owens!!! Looking forward to a sequel.
This is definitely not Tom Clancy or any other espionage military type novel. The object of this inexpensively purchased book off is to spread fear among Americans. The objects of this fear are the government and the Muslims. This is something Donald Trump would love along with the tea partiers and patriots would love.
Since 9/11 and the terrorist attacks in France people are very wary of Islam and Muslims.
The premise of the book is simple, Muslims are coming in droves from Syria and other parts of the Middle East in order to live in America. A good number of them are members of ISIS and Al Quaida. They form sleeper cells waiting to be activated. In Maay of 2016 they become active. They start off by taking over National Guard facilities and seizing weapons. Since they are dressed in army uniforms they go by unchallenged for the most part and anyone who so much as raises an eyebrow gets wasted. They take over hospitals armories and pretty much take over Washington DC. They obliterate the White House , Congress and the Supreme Court. Slowly but surely their plan unfolds and they start laying waste to the country. Militants storm US embassies across the globe. American is taken hostage. The president is dead and so is the Vice President. The military, patriot militias and the fire crew set about to rescue Washington DC. Cabinet member Patricia Parker takes over and orders strikes to level Raqqa and fight back. She herself gets killed as a joint drug cartel ISIS army lays waste her Arizona residence. THer is some intrigue as the speaker of the house is arrested for trying to assume his rightful place of power. In the end America wins but it is also a victory for the liberals.
This is not a great peace of literature, nor do I think it was meant to be. I discussed the scenario with some former military people and they said something of that magnitude could not happen. I imagine there could be more terrorist attacks like 9-11 and terrorist groups could ally with the cartel and street gangs in order to destabilize America. Radicals are recruiting in the prisons and on the stret and that gives them an advantrage. I would suggest that refugees should be vetted thoroughly before coming or at least have a background check. The characters are not fully developed and sometimes even physical descriptions are lacking. The battle scenes are intense and realistic. President Obanyon is obviously a play on Obama. Patrica Parker might be a play on McCain savetht she is female. If paranoia is your things then good fine and well this book is for you. I do not believe that Muslims are athreat but I do feel that ISIS, Al Quaida and their ilk must be obliterated.
Great action novel. Though the authors disclaimer as fiction it hints toward the possibility of future reality due to inept federal leadership. It clearly portrays the current real brutality of Islam as a religion in a fictional setting making any sound thinking individual come to the realization that in reality a good Muslim is a dead Muslim.
